I’m 22, and some days I still wake up with a spot that would need its own ticket at the cinema. What’s all that about? Plus, if you’re anything like me, the spots you get are big, red, and noticeable. My skin was actually clearer when I was a teen. Not fair! Not only are they noticeable, they also pop up before a big event, without fail. However, I know a few tips and tricks that really work to reduce the size of my spots, and in some cases make them disappear altogether! I swear by them, and today I’m sharing them with you so we can both say goodbye to our spotty woes. Here they are:
Dot on Some Toothpaste
Toothpaste may sting on your spot for a while, but once it’s dried you can leave it on overnight and be amazed by the results. Simply wash it off in the morning, and you’ll notice a huge improvement in the size of your spot! You might look a little funny with dots of toothpaste all over your face, but it’s all in the name of beauty, right?

Steam Your Face
Steaming the face with a professional steamer or over a bowl of hot water can be a great help in cleansing the pores and cleaning any nasties out of the face. Your nose will probably run too, but that just means you’re cleansing your airways. You skin will feel fab afterwards. You could even head over to a gym and spend some time in the sauna to cleanse your whole body of impurities.
Exfoliating the face can be a great way to get rid of old, dull skin cells and replace them with shiny new ones. Because of this, your pores are much less likely to get clogged up, resulting in fewer spots. Even if I’ve already been cursed with a humongous spot, exfoliating it always makes it look better, and I feel like I’m showing it who’s boss. Take that, spot! You can either make your own from ingredients like honey and brown sugar or buy one ready made from your local drug store.
Smooth on a Facemask
There are plenty of face masks out there, but I recommend a deep cleansing mask if you want to make your skin look lovely. Follow the packet instructions to get the best results from your mask. I always smooth mine on with a brush, leave it to do its thing while I relax, then wash it off to reveal gorgeous skin.
Apply Tea Tree Antiseptic Oil
Tea tree antiseptic oil is a godsend, as it can be used for so many different things. However, when you have a spot, you can just dab it on and leave it overnight. Plenty of natural acne recipes include this amazing ingredient. In most cases, spots will dry out and disappear once you’ve woken up! It’s amazing, and the stuff smells fresh too.
Go ahead and kick those spots to the curb with these tips and tricks!
