The condition of our teeth can say a lot about us. If your teeth are yellow and falling to bits, do you think you’re going to get very far? I’d bet that people won’t want to speak to you much, and it could scupper your chances of getting a job. Sounds harsh, but bad teeth don’t make you look like a person who takes pride in themselves and their appearance. A great smile can be a wonderful accessory. Did you know that whiter teeth can make us look years younger? Here’s how you can keep your teeth in immaculate condition:

If it Would Stain Your Top – Stay Away

If you constantly eat foods and consume beverages that would leave a stain on your top, you’re staining your teeth! Coffee, tea, red wine, and certain fruits can all stain teeth. Try to limit consumption of these products. You should also stay away from sugary foods as these will rot your teeth eventually.

Don’t Smoke

There are so many reasons you shouldn’t smoke, but we’ll stay on the topic of teeth for now. Simply type ‘smoker’s teeth’ into Google and you’ll see what I mean – disgusting!

Brush Your Teeth Twice a Day With a Quality Brush

You probably know that you need to brush your teeth twice a day, but did you know that the kind of brush you use really does matter? Electric toothbrushes are best, as they do most of the work for you while you just move it around your mouth. They can even tell you when you’ve brushed for 2 minutes! Brushing too hard can permanently damage tooth enamel, so be careful with manual toothbrushes.

Floss and Rinse

Once you’ve brushed, a lot of people think that they are done until next time. But what about the gunk hiding in between your teeth? Debris in between the teeth is one of the main causes of bad breath, but you can get rid of it just by flossing. When you’ve done that, rinse with a could mouthwash like Listerine.

Chew Sugar Free Gum After Meals

Instead of letting your mouth fester after a lunch filled with smelly food, or any food for that matter, chew some sugar free gum. This will stop you from craving anything sweet, as well as cleaning your mouth for you.

Go to the Dentist Regularly

The dentist can be a scary experience, but it’ll be even worse if you leave your visits for too long and end up needing a tooth removed or a filling. The more you go, the sooner a dentist can spot a problem arising and fix it before it gets even worse.
