When the sun is out, and the weather is warm, any social gathering can carry on into the late evening. If the party is at my place, I like to sneak back to my room and make a few little touch-ups to see me through past sundown. In the daytime, my make-up makes a statement but it’s softer and several shades lighter than how I like it in the evening. If I’m out on the tiles or having a big party, I love to shine, and my makeup is just part of how I can achieve that. Here are four great ways to light up any venue this party season.
Glitter makeup – For the ultimate shine, I just love glitter eyes. They draw people’s attention up to my face. The best thing about it is how it catches the lights in the nightclub, or those subtle lights from a garden or terrace party. A touch of glitter moisturizer across the collarbone is a nice way to glam up a strappy top or dress as well. For the final touches, a little glitter blush could work even better. With lip gloss in glitter tones as well, you really do have plenty of choices when you want to shine!
Whiter teeth – When I want to sparkle and shine, I always worry my teeth will let me down. Cocktails are so glamorous and so delicious, but some of the syrups can stain my teeth! Rather than laying off the cocktails, I like to keep my teeth white by avoiding all the other things that can stain. It’s also essential to use a good whitening toothpaste. Interdental brushing with things like Tepees help. Try a website like http://teethwhiteningadelaide.net.au/ to get some ideas about whitening treatments. It’s best to pick one that’s right for your teeth, whether you visit a professional or not.
Sequins and beads – Any dress with sequin or bead detail is going to glint and shine in the nightclub lights. If you’re feeling particularly sparkly, you could choose a dress made entirely of shiny silver sequins. For me, some hem detail or collar detail can be enough, or a shiny belt to finish. I love my clothes to sparkle in the light, and shiny shoes can enhance that. Choose a pair with detail in the heel as well, so you can sparkle from both sides.

Jewelry – Fine jewelry really does make an impact. Necklaces and long, dangly earrings are my favorite pieces to wear when I want them to stand out. Diamonds are definitely a girl’s best friends for a touch of sparkle. You can get a similar effect with glass, crystal or cubic zirconia. Yellow gold tends to pick up the different light colors of a nightclub more effectively than other precious metals too. For extra sparkle, a gemstone belly piercing can be very effective!
Whether you want to be the center of attention or not, bringing some glam and sparkle to the party is never a bad idea. It certainly puts you in the party spirit. Strive to shine this party season.
Gross beauty problems… We all get them, however much we don’t want to admit it. Most of the time, these dilemmas are far too embarrassing to ask our friends for advice. After all, who wants to talk about dandruff or pimples during lunch with the girls? Don’t worry though, no beauty dilemma is too gross for this guide! Here are some of the most gross beauty dilemmas and how to solve them.
Image from Flickr
It happens, okay. Sometimes we have no idea why it happens, but it does. Flaky head skin can be one of the most embarrassing beauty issues to talk about because it conjures up images of dirty hair. Most of the time, you don’t get dandruff through being dirty so don’t worry. In most cases, it is to do with irritation and sometimes it may even be a medical problem. Try using an anti-dandruff shampoo to soothe your scalp first of all. If that doesn’t work it could be a skin issue, which you can talk to a dermatologist or doctor about. They’ll be able to prescribe a medicated shampoo that will clear those flakes in no time.
Not only do ingrown hairs look gross, but they can be uncomfortable too. If an ingrown hair gets infected it can turn from a red spot into a pus-filled sore; not the most attractive look on the beach. This issue usually arises from shaving and is when the follicle gets clogged up with dead skin cells. Yummy! There are some ways you can prevent ingrown hairs, including using a balm designed for after shaving. You could also consider laser hair removal. If you do fall prey to these nasties, then use a pair of tweezers to gently coax the hair out. Whatever you do, do NOT try to pop the little red spots that appear. Sometimes they’ll just disappear by themselves, but if you keep getting them it may be worth seeing a doctor. Some skin conditions can be mistaken for ingrown hairs.
Even the word fungus makes us feel a little bit sick, never mind what it looks like. However, fungal nail infections are quite common and don’t mean you’re a grubby person. If you often damage your nails or skin, or wear shoes that make your feet hot and sweaty, then you could be prone to toenail fungus. Usually curing this would involve a trip to the doctors, but there are some over the counter treatments out there. There are products out there which are rated quite highly. Take a look at the ZetaClear reviews for an idea of what you need to be looking for in a toenail fungus treatment. Hopefully, you’ll be able to paint your toenails again very soon!
The most common beauty dilemma in the world! The angry red pimple is one of the hardest things to cover up and always seems to appear at the worst of times. There are plenty of ways to stop this from happening, including eating cleaner and drinking lots of water. However, if you’ve tried all you can and they keep appearing, then there are plenty of products on the market to help combat the pimple. Just don’t pick it, whatever you do.
These are some of the most common gross beauty dilemmas that nobody likes talking to their friends about. Hopefully, this guide will come in handy the next time you come face to face with an embarrassing beauty problem.
If you’re a girl who loves the great outdoors, you might sometimes find it difficult to be both fashionable and practical. You can spend your days wandering the countryside and enjoying yourself, but it’s hard to look stylish in a pair of wellies and a raincoat. But don’t despair, because you can look and feel great while you explore more rural landscapes. Whether you like horse riding or you enjoy strolling through meadows, you can look fantastic while you’re doing it. And even if that’s not your sort of thing, you can pretend you’re about to spend a weekend on a country estate by getting the right look.
Get the Right Shoes
If you’re trying to be practical and stylish, it’s best to start with your feet and work upwards. Sensible shoes are a must if you’re traipsing through mud, scaling mountains or even just walking down a country lane. But you’re probably thinking that you haven’t met a pair of sensible shoes that you like. It’s true that a lot of them can be frumpy and dull, even if they do feel more comfortable than a pair of trainers or high heels. However, you can get fashionable outdoor shoes. If you want an all-round pair, start with Hunter wellies. You might have seen people going to festivals in them, but they are useful for proper rural settings too.
Lots of Wool
Staying warm and dry are your top priorities if you’re enjoying some time in the countryside. And if there’s one way to stay warm, it’s by wearing wool. You can wear it in so many different ways, from an angora hat to a tweed jacket. Go for top-quality woollen items and they’ll last you a long time. On Aran Sweaters Direct, you can see a range of ways to wear wool jackets, sweaters and accessories to keep you warm and protected from the wind. Choose something chunky to suit you if you’re walking a coastal path or going on a winter walk.
Make Waterproofing Sexy
There’s nothing stylish about waterproof jackets. Or is there? You don’t have to resign yourself to looking dowdy if you want a fashionable and practical raincoat. From Helly Hansen and Jack Wolfskin to Barbour and Joules, it’s easy to find one that you like for once. The trick is to look in both outdoors shops and at fashion brands too. Warm and dry coats don’t have to make you look like you’re about to climb a mountain or go skiing.
Of course, no outfit is complete without its accessories. But how do you do it when you’re going for the country look? You can add more wool in the form of hats and scarves, and with smaller items you can afford to go for the expensive stuff. You don’t need that cashmere scarf or angora hat, but it will last you a long time. A good pair of gloves is a must too, perhaps sheepskin or kid gloves.
You can spend time roaming around the countryside (or pretending to) without looking like you’re prepared to roll in the mud at any second. Be both practical and stylish next time you explore the great outdoors.
As we age, our skin changes and we begin to see the appearance of fine lines, and shock horror – wrinkles. Despite the fact that aging is a natural part of life, many women are keen to avoid it at all costs. With some women even going as far as undergoing surgery or botox injections to prevent it.
While cosmetic surgery may offer a quick fix for reversing aging skin, it isn’t a long-term solution. No matter what procedure you have done, sooner or later your face will return to its previous state.
Instead of choosing to use Botox to help keep your skin looking as young as possible, your best bet is to stick to non-invasive methods. Especially as invasive treatments like Botox injections are expensive and come with some nasty risks.
To help you keep your skin looking as fresh, fabulous and young as possible, without the use of botox or cosmetic surgery, we have put together a simple guide below:
Protect your skin from the sun
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that getting a tan is more important than protecting your skin from sun damage. Did you know that a high percentage of changes you see to your skin as you age are due to spending too much time in the sun?
To keep your skin safe from the sun and help to prevent aging, make sure to limit the time you spend in the sun during peak hours – 10am to 4pm. Whenever you go out in the sun, make sure always to protect yourself by wearing a hat, as well as a high factor sunscreen.
During the spring and fall, when the sun’s heat is much lower, don’t forget to still apply sunscreen or wear a foundation or moisturiser with an SPF factor of 15 or above.
Cleanse and exfoliate
Two of the most important things you can do to keep your skin healthy is cleanse and exfoliate on a regular basis. Cleansing your skin removes makeup and dirt from your skin and exfoliating gets rid of dry skin by removing dead skin cells and making room for fresh, new skin cells to grow.
Choose a chemical-free natural cleanser and cleanse your skin each morning and evening – this will reduce the bacteria and dirt on your skin. Three times a week, follow this by exfoliating with a rich exfoliating scrub – this will remove all the old skin cells and give your skin a fresh look.
Invest in an anti-aging moisturiser
To keep your skin healthy, you need to give it the adequate hydration that it needs – the best way to do this is by moisturising regularly. To help keep your skin as healthy and young looking as possible, it is a good idea to swap to an anti-aging moisturiser once you are in your late twenties.
If you are unsure what moisturiser to use, we would recommend giving the lifecell anti aging face cream a try – you can read a review of lifecell anti aging face cream online here.
Be mindful of what goes into your body
It’s amazing how much what you put into your body can affect your skin. That’s why it is so important to be mindful about what you are putting into your body.
If you smoke, be warned that smoking can significantly increase how quickly your skin ages. If you want your skin to stay as young as possible, ideally, you should give up smoking immediately.
Alcohol is another substance that can lead to premature aging – too much alcohol on a regular basis and it will have terrible effects on your skin. Monitor your drinking and aim to have no more than three alcoholic drinks each week.
As well as watching what substance go into your body, it is also important to eat a clean, healthy diet. You should aim to eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as lots of lean meat, fish and poultry and should avoid foods high in unhealthy fats and sugar.
The warmer weather is upon us, which means the summer shoes are out! I physically can’t let anybody look at my tootsies unless I’ve given them a quick pedicure beforehand. Let’s be honest; feet aren’t pretty. There is literally no such thing as a pretty foot. You can make them look a little better with a pedicure though, so that’s what I do! Here’s how I give myself a pedi from home:
Clip and File Nails
The first thing I do is clip and file my nails. I do this really carefully because I know how easy it is to go too short – ouch! I always clip in a straight line and file straight across too. I do get rid of sharp edges with the file, but I don’t make them too round as it can cause ingrown toe nails.
Now, I get ready to relax for 10-15 minutes in a nice foot spa. I make the water really warm and a little soapy. Be carefully if you have the type that massages the feet – they can make bubbles overflow if you use too many! I always clip nails before soaking as the water will make nails too soft and it can damage them.
Push Back Cuticles
Now that my cuticles are nice and soft, I push them back with an orange wood stick or cuticle pusher. If they need it, I apply a little cuticle cream remover. I get rid of as much as I can to make sure I can paint the nail as close to the skin as possible without touching it. Feet always look so much better with tidy cuticles.
Get Rid of Dead Skin
Now is the perfect time to get rid of that dead skin, but you must be carefully. You should never scrub too hard or grate too much off. You can easily make your feet bleed and they’ll be very sore the next day! Be sensible or you won’t be able to walk. At this point you can also tend to any nail problems you may have. I always try to find the best OTC toenail fungus treatment as this can be a recurring problem for me (gross I know, don’t judge me!). Read the instructions properly!
Use toe separators and bit of kitchen roll to separate the toes and begin to paint. I always use a base coat, 2 coats of colour, and one top coat. Leave each coat a little time to dry in between. Applying coats too soon or too thickly can mean your toes take hours to dry. Try to get as close to the skin as you can without touching it. This usually takes practice to get spot on. A nail corrector pen can be a lifesaver if you get a little bit on your skin.
Apply Oil and Cream
Next, apply a drop of cuticle oil to each nail. This will nourish your cuticles and stop any little knocks from affecting the polish. Apply cream to your heels and other dry areas, but avoid touching the toes.
Now it’s time to relax! Let all of that goodness sink into your skin while your polish dries. Toenail polish can be a pain to dry, so I make sure I haven’t got anything planned for a while. I usually like to pop Netflix on with a cup of something hot.
I hope you enjoy giving yourself a pedicure as much as I do!
With Spring starting at last, you may be making the most of the better quality of light in your bathroom mirror. With the better light comes the horror of seeing what terrible things winter has done to your face! The harsh weather and central heating have left it dry and dull. With no sunlight for months, your color is pasty and pale. It is definitely time for a Spring makeover, so let’s find those problem areas and see what we can do:
Lips – Your poor lips have probably been chapped all winter despite oodles of lip balm. First, get the magnifying mirror out in the bright light and check for any little hairs around the top one. If they are there, get out the wax quick! Once you have sorted out the area around the lips, give them a plumping with some daily exercises. Rolling them together improves the circulation and gives them a gorgeous glow. Check your teeth are white, and then dare to set the rouge upon those luscious lips of yours.

Eyes – Poor diets in the winter can lead to dark circles, so start a detox and clean up that diet with all the yummy fresh produce that is available at this time of year. You may be reaching that age where those puffy eyes are getting a tad droopy. This Spring may be the perfect time to book in for some eyelid surgery to get your eyes back out from under them. Use some concealer around the eyes before applying shadow and mascara. Tame those eyebrows with a good tweezer too.
Cheeks – If your skin is looking dull and dry, now is the perfect time to cleanse, tone, moisturize and apply some gorgeous Spring blush colors. Most of us look great with a rose pink shade, but some of us can get away with deeper reds that look incredible. If your skin needs a bit more attention, look to exfoliating or getting a professional facial to slough off all the dead cells from winter.
Forehead – The winter blast has probably left a permanent frown on your face. If your wrinkles between and above your eyebrows are ever more prominent, treat yourself to some great anti wrinkle creams and get them back under control. There are some facial exercises you can try to see if it will help as well. Take some relaxation classes so you can spend the rest of the year frown free and worry free.
Nose – Winter brings lots of pollutants to our skin and most of them clog up the pores on our nose. This results in unsightly blackheads and oily shine. Your nose may look a permanent shade of red as well. Caffeine can actually worsen this problem so switch to green tea and apply some tea tree oil to the problem area. Cleanse your nose and T area twice a day to keep on top. Don’t over moisturize the area if it is prone to shine, but keep yourself hydrated to keep the skin as healthy looking as possible.
For most of us, our wedding day will be one of the most special days in our lives. We spend months planning the entire day out in meticulous detail, choosing the perfect wedding dress and fantasizing about just how amazing our wedding day will be.
And, of course, we want everything to be perfect. From the groomsmen’s ties and the bridesmaids gowns to every note in the entrance music, every last detail must be just how we imagined it.
So, it is no surprise that just like the rest of our wedding day, we want our hair and makeup to look perfect. But what is the best way to ensure that as we walk down the aisle, we look absolutely perfect?
To help you look and feel beautiful on your wedding day, we have put together some beauty tips below.
1. Take care of your skin
If you want your skin to look radiant as you walk down the aisle, it is important to put a skin care routine in place prior to the big day. Especially as, with so much to organise, stress-induced breakouts and flare-ups are inevitable.
Every night before bed, make sure to take off all makeup using natural antibacterial makeup remover. Such as a tea tree, witch hazel or aloe vera based makeup remover. Avoid using makeup wipes, as they are not good for your skin. Stick to a makeup remover or cleanser that is applied to the skin and removed with a clean flannel and warm water.
2. Moisturise and drink lots of water
Your skin always looks its best when it is adequately moisturised and hydrated. To keep your skin well hydrated throughout the day, make sure that you are drinking at least one and a half litres of water.
Don’t go to bed without applying a nice, rich moisturiser, this will soothe and hydrate your skin while you sleep. In the morning, after cleansing your skin with a cleanser and warm water, make sure to apply day cream. This will help to keep your skin hydrated all day.
3. Exfoliate everywhere
Instead of just exfoliating your face, before your big day you should be exfoliating your whole body. If you want super soft skin, that is.
Exfoliating your skin can help to remove dead and dull skin cells from the skin’s surface, making it soft and super smooth . Leading up to your wedding day, you should be exfoliating your entire body once a week and your face two to three times a week.
4. Choose your makeup carefully
When you are choosing your makeup for your wedding day, there are lots of things to consider. Naturally, you want to look and feel fantastic, and you want your makeup to look picture perfect, but what about the style of makeup?
Think about the makeup style would you like – natural, glamorous, elegant? Think about the type of look you want. Do you want to use waterproof makeup, just in case? Get some ideas for the kind of look you want and then discuss them with your makeup artist.
If you can’t afford a makeup artists, have a look online for wedding makeup ideas and online tutorials for how to create certain looks, etc.
5. Pack a quick fix bag for the wedding
Pack a quick fix bag of bits for the wedding reception. Pack some bits and bobs, like makeup, nail polish to touch up your nails, deodorant, and breath mints, so that you can quickly fix any problems.
As a mommy, it is important that you look incredible, but your kids should also look fantastic. As you know, I love creating new fashion looks and trying on things. Well, why should my children be any different? Choosing your kids’ clothing can be super fun when you know what to look for and what you want. When you go shopping for their clothes, you should take your little ones with you so that they can try things on in the store. It might sound like a hassle, and at times it is, but it will save you loads of trouble later down the line.
Buy quality, not quantity
I know that some parents out there think that they need a thousand different outfits for their kids. You might believe that you need to get loads of pieces of clothing because, let’s face it, kids are messy at times. Instead, you should buy some quality pieces that will stand the test of time. Keetan kids designer clothing is an example of high-quality clothes you might want to get. The best thing about buying designer clothing is that you know it will last a long time and look unique. You should spend some time looking for pieces that will suit your little ones.
Always get one size larger than you need
Okay, this tip is majorly important if you don’t want to waste your money. You always need to get clothing items one size larger than your child needs. Kids grow so fast that you need to make sure that their clothes will last them a good few months at least. If you buy clothes that are a little larger than your children, they will have room to grow into them over time.
Check the washing instructions
Some children’s clothing is hand-wash only, which is ridiculous when you think about how often you have to wash them. Before you buy any pieces, you need to ensure that you can put them in the washing machine with all your other stuff. If the cleaning instructions are super complicated, it might be best to opt for another brand of clothing. You don’t want to spend all day long trying to get stains and marks out of your kids’ clothes, after all.
Let your kids have a say
You have an individual sense of style, and your kids need to develop one as well. As your children grow up, they will start to decide what clothes they like and what clothes they don’t. You can help them along the way by letting them have a say in what you buy for them. You should, of course, encourage your children to choose items in your budget that will suit them. You should also let them make some of the decisions as well. If your kids have favorite colors, they might want to choose items in those colors.
Spend the most on shoes
If there is one item that you need to blow your budget on, it has to be shoes. Kids are super active. They are always running around, playing games and climbing on things. If you get them cheap shoes, they will wear out in a matter of weeks. Instead, ensure that you get some quality shoes that will last your kids no matter what they do. Make sure that the shoes you buy have sturdy soles so that they don’t wear down with time.
When you start shopping for your children, it can feel like a chore at first. Don’t let it stress you out. Instead, you need to have some fun choosing cute pieces that will suit your kids!
Summer is just around the corner and thoughts of lazy summer afternoons, floaty dresses and sandals are on the horizon. But wait, what sort of state are your feet in after being cooped up in boots and wellingtons all winter long? Don’t fret! My super guide on how to get your feet beautiful in time for summer will help.
Our delicate feet don’t get the attention they deserve in the winter months. Many women have admitted to hardly even washing them during the colder months of the year unless they become particularly smelly. This is a bad move, treat your feet as you would any other part of your body that is visible. Take a nice long shower or bath and make sure to firstly scrub your feet followed by an intensive exfoliation session. One of the best ways to do this is to get a nice foot scrub from your favourite vendor. The best ones are usually tea tree and peppermint scrubs, they clean off your feet brilliantly and leave them smelling fresh. If your feet are quite dehydrated consider using a sugar scrub instead as salt dehydrates. Remember, once your foot beauty care begins, don’t stop – make sure to exfoliate them at least once a week. Keep a pumice nearby for use after your bath or shower.
Give your nails a nice trim, being careful not to remove too much of the nail, that can leave them looking horrible and also create problems for you later down the line. If your nails are yellowing and brittle, it can be a sign of a fungal infection. You can buy Zetaclear online here to help removal.
If your feet haven’t seen the light of day since around September, they are going to need some serious TLC. Use a good quality moisturiser on your feet and nails. Allow this to soak in and then before bed apply a good layer of Vaseline to your feet before popping them into bed in some nice 100% cotton socks. These will keep the moisture in and help to repair any damage the harsh winter has caused to your feet.

Like any other part of our skin, your feet need protection from the sun. Many people think because the skin is tougher that you won’t cause damage. This is wrong, and you should always wear some form of sun protection on your feet while out and about in the Summer months. This will prevent them becoming burnt and ageing excessively.
Salt can as we mentioned before have a bad effect on your feet. This is also true if your diet contains too much salt. Steer clear of the processed foods and avoid adding any at the table to give your feet the best possible start to the season.
Now your feet are looking gorgeous you need to keep them that way. Remove nail polish as and when and give yourself enough time to clean, exfoliate and trim. The key is to ensure you moisturise and also treat and cuts and grazes as soon as possible.
A healthy glow from inside out is something that most of us wish we could achieve every day. Sometimes when I have a day where my skin looks dull or in bad condition, I’ll look at ways to improve it and get that healthy glow back again. Here are just a few of the things that work well to get that healthy spring glow.
First you should look at the way in which you take care of your skin. A good starting point for creating that healthy, glowing look is to make sure that you have exfoliated all of the dead and dry skin from your face and body. Don’t forget to exfoliate your lips as this will leave them soft, supple and ready to create that perfect pout. More celebrities turning to surgery to get their perfect look, but do you need to go that far? Watch as Dr. Holcomb performs a facelift in Sarasota to consider all of your options.
Next, take into consideration the importance of a good moisturiser. You don’t need to spend a fortune on one, but do your research and find one that works well for you. You can often buy small tubs or travel sized samples. Take advantage of these as a great way to try them before you buy a full-sized version.
Next up is your foundation and makeup application. Create a good base by using a high-quality primer. Sweep this over your skin and follow with a light reflecting foundation. You can buy various different products that will help to capture the light and show your complexion off in the best possible way.
Contouring is the new beauty craze of the moment. Celebrities are doing it, bloggers are doing it and we’re all hesitantly thinking about doing it ourselves! The truth is, if you get it right, contouring can be amazing. You can create a sculpted, flattering look. However, if you get it wrong, you could end up looking a little worse for wear. Take your time to earn about all of the techniques before you get in there and start wielding your brush around like a mad woman! Add a touch of highlighter to your cheekbones and brow bone for a polished finished look.
To finish the whole thing off, you could invest in a good bronzing powder. There are some beautiful bronzer palettes on the market right now that not only do the job, but look great on your dressing table! A good blusher can make all of the difference. Benefit do a fantastic range of blushers to suit every skin tone. Test them out first in your local drugstore though as there are always plenty of samples on the counter. This is a great way to make sure that you’re picking up a colour that matches your skin tone perfectly.
Drink plenty of water and get out there in the fresh air as often as possible, and this will also help your skin to look its best. Consider using makeup with high SPF to protect your skin if you want to keep it healthy and blemish free. I look forward to hearing how you get on!
